La La Loopsy Birthday Party!

Audrey is one lucky little girl -
her parents know how to throw a party! :)
I had such a fun time shooting her birthday party last year
and was excited to see what was in store this year.
There were lots of smiles and happiness for Audrey
and she deserves it, she is such a little sweetheart!

Cotton candy, popcorn, and carnival games - tons of fun details!

The sweetest happy birthday song giggles I have ever seen..

Birthday present excitement!

So many details went into Audrey's birthday extravaganza - I was happy to photograph it all. So many good photos, I had a hard time just choosing a few for the blog.

Thank you Clayton for inviting me out again - amazing job! The photos are going to look great in her book :)

How to be the perfect housewife

Image courtesy of Austin Fashion Week

A couple of years ago, someone gave me a book called Fascinating Womanhood.
I remember my jaw dropping after reading some of the advice it gave on how to become a good homemaker, a great wife and have a perfect marriage.

It mentioned things like "When you arise, take care of your appearance. Touch up your makeup, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh looking"
And when your man comes home from work, "Speak in a soft, soothing, pleasant voice. Allow him to relax - to unwind"

Then I realized it was written in 1965.
I'm still kinda fascinated with the advice, though. Who can pull this off anymore? Do women still aspire to this high level of home service - no cubicles, no carpools but apple pies and a perfect home??

The basic rules for the perfect housewife:

Female Photographers

My inspiration lately...
these women photographers who did amazing work,
and had amazing style.

Top: Dorothea Lange and her photograph Migrant Mother.
Middle: Mary Morris Lawrence & her photograph of Eleanor Roosevelt
Bottom: Margaret Bourke-White and her photograph of Louisville Flood Victims in 1937

Such class and talent.

Family Session - Joey, Bianca, Julian :)

Little Julian is a firecracker, and so cute!
These teasers are from a session we did on a
sweltering day in Tempe.
Mom and dad were troopers and we ended up with some great shots.
What to do when a little guy is fussy from AZ heat? Easy - take his clothes off and let him run wild :)

Thank you Joey & Bianca for coming all the way to Tempe for your session!
